Save the Children Deeply Concerned about Reports of Child Abuse in Lebanon

Save the Children is deeply concerned about reports of child abuse at a daycare center in Lebanon. Whether at school, at home, at community-based care centers, daycare or nursery, children must be kept safe and protected at all times. Trends of increasing exposure of children to violence and threats to their safety and well-being across Lebanon must be addressed as a matter of urgency. All reports of violence against children must be investigated, and those responsible must be held accountable.

All people and institutions involved in children’s lives and supporting their healthy development and well-being must come together and step-up to better protect all vulnerable children. A key step to keeping children safe is prevention and making reporting concerns as easy as possible for children, parents and community members.

We encourage anyone who encounters a suspected child abuse case to report these incidents to the relevant authorities either by contacting 112 or the child protection unit at the Ministry of Social Affairs. If you have a concern about health and safety standards related to childcare facilities, you can report these through the Ministry of Public Health hotline on 1718 or 1214.

تعرب جمعية إنقاذ الأطفال عن قلقها الشديد بشأن التقارير حول حالة الإعتداء على الأطفال في دار للحضانة في لبنان. سواء في المدرسة أو في المنزل أو في دور الحضانة المجتمعية، يجب الحفاظ على سلامة الأطفال وحمايتهم في كل الأوقات. ينبغي وعلى وجه السرعة معالجة حالات تعرض الأطفال للعنف والتهديد لسلامتهم ورفاههم في لبنان. ينبغي التحقيق في حالات انتهاك حقوق الأطفال ومحاسبة الأشخاص المسؤولين عن ذلك.  

على جميع الأشخاص والمؤسسات التي تُعنى بحياة الأطفال والتي تدعم نموّهم السليم ورفاههم، العمل معاً لحماية الأطفال الأكثر حاجة بشكل أفضل. الخطوة الأساسية لإبقاء الأطفال بأمان هي الوقاية وجعل طرق الإبلاغ سهلة بقدر الإمكان للأطفال والأهل وأعضاء المجتمع.
