Wednesday 24 June 2020

Jad Sakr, Save the Children’s Country Director in Lebanon, said,

“We are incredibly saddened by the tragic news. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the baby girl at this difficult time.

“As Lebanon emerges from the lockdown, we need to remember that the risk of infection remains. It is the duty of everyone involved to do all we can to stop the virus from spreading among the most vulnerable groups, including children with underlying health conditions. While children seem to be generally less impacted, today’s tragedy is a stark reminder that the virus can be age-blind.

“Save the Children continues to support national efforts in the fight against this pandemic. We urge anyone worried about the health and protection of their child to get in touch with Save the Children’s helpline and report their concerns.”
